New Director of Sales

Our current director of sales, Michael Nielsen, has decided it was time for a change after 22 years with us. Michael accepted a sales position in Obel-P Automation, and I wish Michael succes in his new job and thank him for his many years of dedicated work with us. Michaels last work day is December 21st.
To fill the gap after Michael, I am pleased to announce that Thomas Mark Venås has accepted the position as Director of Sales & New Product Development, as of February 1st, 2018.

Thomas holds a M.Sc. in forestry and a Ph.D. in wood technology from the university of Copenhagen. He has been with the Danish Technological Institute since 2005, where he has been heavily involved in the development and quality assurance of new wood treatment and modification processes as well as managerial activities.
Thomas is well known and respected in the industry, including many of our long time customers. I am very pleased that Thomas has decided to join the team for the benefit of both our project and NPD customers. With Thomas, we now have a complete wood science based engineering and service team in place. It enables us to offer our customers a value proposition which is unique in our industry, on a global scale.

New product development has been in our DNA for 40 years
In the beginning of 2017, in the year of our 40th anniversary, we supplied the first two ThermoTreat 2.0© thermal modification units to customers in Denmark and Austria and obtained two new patents for this technology. The patents are the first since our founder, Niels Moldrup, developed a number of patents in WTTs formative years. WTT was born as an innovator in advanced wood treatment technology, and the new patents – together with the onboarding of Thomas – confirms WTT’s commitment to lead techonology innovation in our industry.

New markets – from international to global
In 2017 we also succeeded in winning our two first major projects in the US. In Montana, we will supply a ThermoTreat© 2.0 thermal modification unit, and in Missouri we will supply a large, closed system creosote treating plant for railroad ties. The creosote plant is the first of its kind in the world, being able to run the so-called Boultonizing process without producing any wastewater or other pollutants. The projects in the US are part of our ongoing transformation from an international to a global company, as more new markets will be won in the coming years.

With this, I want to wish You a merry Christmas and a happy new year and thank You for your cooperation with the WTT team over the year!

With kind regards
Peter Klaas, Ph.D., managing director.
